Jessica’s story
Some of you will know that I am giving up a week of my annual leave in November to support and work for a small registered UK charity in West Africa. The charity BACE is in The Gambia, and they set up and run a Nursery school for 100, 3 to 7 year olds. In addition, the charity built and run a medical centre , which provides primary healthcare and maternity services for many rural under-resourced villages.
I will be joining a group of volunteers and performing a range of manual tasks, such as painting, building, cement mixing but also working with and supporting the children and the local village community. The charity is run by volunteers, they have no overheads in the UK so 100% of funds raised go directly on the projects and staff wages in The Gambia, but in order to sustain these projects fund raising is essential.
All volunteers and Trustees of the charity pay for their own travel and expenses each trip, so every penny goes towards the wonderful work they are doing.
Thank you so much in advance for you donation, it really does make a difference
