Natalie’s story
Hello! I am Natalie and I am running the 2023 TCS London Marathon to raise funds for The Friends of St James Mission and School, Zimbabwe(UK Charity number 1017217).
FSJMS work to provide education bursaries for pupils in Zimbabwe, giving secondary school girls vital access to a broad and varied education. As all secondary school education in Zimbabwe is fee-paying, inevitably, the costs are usually beyond the financial reach of most people in rural areas. FSJMS aims to provide stability via their bursaries to students who board at the school due to its rural and isolated location.
Donations via FSJMS also go towards the essential supply of a free, nutritious, cooked mid-day meal to all 220 pupils at the local primary school. With many students walking up to eight miles per day to attend, this subsidised meal is vital, and for some this is their main meal of the day. During the 21 years that FSJMS has been providing this meal the health of young local children (as monitored by the clinic at the Mission) has improved exponentially!
All fundraising for the run is taking place via Children First International (UK Charity No: 1057811), who have kindly donated my place at this year’s London Marathon. All contributions made through wonderful.org (and offline, in-person donations too!) will be received by CFI, who will collect Gift Aid on behalf of Friends of St James and pass every penny of your generous donations to their brilliant cause.
Any and all donations are greatly appreciated! I’m looking forward to doing you all proud on 23 April 2023!
