Julia’s story
I will be running the Great North Run (again) with my Dad and brother. My Dad is 76 years young and has completed every Great North Run since 1981 when the race started.
I have been fortunate enough to spend time with The Country Trust who are the chosen charity of my employer, Oxbury Bank. The work that they do to enrich the lives of children is fantastic and I have seen first hand the work that they do.
For those who have not heard of this amazing charity; the Country Trust is the UK’s leading national educational charity connecting children from areas of high social and economic disadvantage with the land that sustains us all.
The Trust supports better life chances for disadvantaged children through hands-on food, farming and countryside experiences.
They work with schools with a higher-than-average percentage of children eligible for Free School Meals (EVER6). This is currently 25.5%.
They also support groups of school children with Special Educational Needs or who are not in mainstream education (PRUs) and non-school groups supporting young carers, looked-after children, refugees and asylum seekers.
I would be grateful for any donations to support this amazing cause.
