Josephine’s story
I am not a runner, full stop! My training is sporadic and infrequent and I will think of every reason under the sun not to go out for a jog. So here I am fully signed up to 'run' Leicester 10K on Sunday 13th October and 39 days left to go to pull my finger out!
Why I am doing this, you ask?
I am a trustee of an amazing charity based in Leicester called Mosaic 1898. Why 1898? That is when this amazing charity started to make a difference to disabled people in Leicester and Leicestershire. That was over a 125 years ago! So I want to try to raise £125 for every year that Mosaic has been there for disabled people in our county. Mosaic 1898 are doing really exciting things at the moment and this money will help pay for vital resources that are not covered by other funding.
More about Mosaic 1898
We are Mosaic 1898; a Leicestershire based charity working to provide life-enhancing services, care and opportunities for disabled people (and all those supporting them), promoting inclusion, equality, independence, choice, empowerment, respect and dignity for all.
We long to see a society that is designed with everyone in mind and where the choices and dignity of every person is upheld; where diverse spaces are celebrated for the value they hold.
Why the photo?
I will be running in and around Aylestone where I live for training and this is part of the River Soar which runs through Aylestone Meadows. Give me a little encouragement if you see me :0)
