Join Richard's Journey: Conquering His First Half Marathon for SOS!SEN!

Richard is stepping up to the challenge, gearing up for his first-ever half marathon in support of SOS!SEN! He's excited, he's nervous, but most importantly, he's determined to make every step count for this incredible cause.

Richard will be running in the 2024 Bakers Brentwood Half Marathon.

As he pushes himself to new limits, Richard invites you to be a part of his journey. Your support will not only cheer him on but also help raise vital funds for SOS!SEN's mission of empowering families navigating Special Educational Needs. Let's rally behind Richard as he races towards the finish line and makes a difference one stride at a time!

I did it! Arriving at Brentwood for 9:30 yesterday, seeing so many people all getting themselves ready and prepped for the half marathon I found myself feeling both nervous and excited. The starting gun fires and the mass of people start to move and we're off. The run was so much fun, the runners all supporting one another throughout the whole journey. At mile 10 I found myself saying, 'I've got 3 miles left, I can really do this!' and then as we turn into our final half mile, we turn a corner to be greeted by a hill, not what you want! But at the exact same point the pace setter I was next too who was playing great music then turned the volume up for his next song...Running up that hill!! That was all the inspiration I needed. I found a final piece of energy and pushed forward and was thrilled to cross the finishing line at 1:43:58 - I had a target of under 2 hours, so I'm very proud. Thank you all for your kind donations, each penny will go to supporting our families who need our help but cannot afford the services. Thank you!

Richards running tshirt has just arrived! Now he can run the half marathon and show everyone that he’s running for the families of SOS!SEN. Every penny raised will be going to support the families who need our help but can’t afford it.

He’s got the gear, he’s training hard, now let’s all spread the word of his run to get as many donations as we can and support more families.

And yep, he wrote his name in Jedi font!!

Richard has been working hard on his training in preparation for the half marathon. Each week he is adding a mile to his run to prepare him for the 13! This week his very own mascot Shadow came along too and managed to stick with him for four of the miles, at which point she decided it was time for her to head home for a much needed rest!
