John’s story

Ever since I got into running a few years ago I've had a full marathon on my bucket list, but when Anna smashed it in the London marathon this year we decided the time had come to go for it! So after months of exhausting myself with training runs, it's time to run! We're doing the York Marathon together THIS WEEKEND on 15th October! I'm delighted that running the marathon also gives me the chance to raise support for two fantastic charities...
CRY (Care and Relief for the Young) is a wonderful Christian charity with strong links to our church (King's Community Church) which works through NGOs and churches in the poorest parts of the world to positively impact children and young people’s lives. They work in more than thirty countries to enable education, provide aid, help refugees, empower girls, and tackle mental health challenges. You can find out more by visiting https://www.cry.org.uk/about-us.
The Big Difference got underway in Southampton as part of the Covid-19 pandemic response. It is a brilliant and entrepreneurial food distribution charity, which works with businesses, partners and community groups to serve the city of Southampton, bringing much needed help to people who really need it. It is run by my friend Sanjay Mall, and has strong links to Above Bar Church, where we were based for many years. You can find out more by visiting https://www.thebigdifference.org.uk/.
All donations will be collected by CRY but will be shared equally between CRY and the Big Difference. Please get behind us and support these two charities as generously as you can!
Thanks so much!
