East Dunbartonshire Befriending Service’s story
East Dunbartonshire Befriending Service (EDBS) are proud to launch our first national, 'A Cup of Kindness' campaign this November!
The campaign launch coincides with National Befriending Week (1-7th) November. It recognises and celebrates the value and impact Befriending has on individuals and communities.
EDBS has 87 befriending matches, thanks to volunteers who kindly give their time to spend with our service users who are experiencing loneliness and/or social isolation in our communities.
EDBS kindly asks supporters to donate £5/£10 (or whatever you can give) to support a befriending match this November.
'It's been like, opening a window and letting the fresh air in', said one of our Befriendee, aged 85, after adjusting to life following the passing of her husband 'I really wasn't interested in going out and meeting anybody, but after being matched and having visits from my befriender, she has helped open me back up and have a new outlook on life, you could say. We just hit it off straight away! Her coming has helped me face the outside world again and gave me a new outlook.
It has been a life saver.'
