Hello!
Welcome to my fundraising page where I am raising awareness and funds for Edinburgh Young Carers.
Edinburgh Young Carers is a voluntary organisation that provides respite and support to young people living in North and South-East Edinburgh, between the ages of 5 and 25, who care for somebody at home. We aim to improve the lives and wellbeing of young carers by raising awareness, offering emotional and practical support and by giving each young person the opportunity to take a break from their caring role and have fun in a friendly, supportive environment where they can be themselves and leave worries behind.
I am a Physical Education teacher at Portobello High school. Within my role at the school I am in an active group that is dedicated to working alongside Edinburgh Young Carers to make sure that all young carers within our school are recognised, heard and receive any help they may need. Young carers and inclusion as a whole is something that I am very passionate about. Starting from early in my teaching career, I have seen the impactful work schools and individuals have done to guide and help our amazing young people who deal with great responsibilities both in and out of school.
