Kate’s story
My name is Kate and this November I will travelling to The Gambia with a charity called BACE (building and assisting communities with education).
For those people that know me they are well aware that this is an opportunity that I have been waiting for, a bucket list opportunity if you will. I will be joining the BACE team in a village called Bonsa.
Bonsa village is based in the Western Division of The Gambia. In 2011 Trustees made the decision to raise the funds to provide basic education and healthcare for Bonsa and the surrounding villages. To date, BACE its trustees and volunteers have; built a nursery school, built a primary health care clinic, Provided clean water supply, Commenced feeding programmes, Provided a first aid vehicle and sent over shipping containers filled with supplies including medical, clothing and footwear, educational and mattresses/chairs.
BACE rely heavily on its trustees and volunteers and this year I am chuffed to be given the opportunity to work along side the other volunteers. I hope my Nursing knowledge and skills will provide assistance where it is due and I am looking forward to giving to the charity, the villagers and perhaps learning a little about myself.
If you can please donate, if you cant please share.
Thank you for taking the time to read.
