Shelley’s story
Hi I'm Shelley and this is my son Blake.
Blake is autistic, and like many other families of children with additional learning needs, finding places where he truly feels comfortable and accepted isn't always easy.
That's why Cynon Valley PALS means so much to us. They provide inclusive activities in a safe, understanding environment, with quieter sessions, fewer crowds and families who just 'get it'. Because of them, Blake has been able to experience things that many take for granted. Making happy memories, building confidence and simply enjoying being a child without feeling overwhelmed and judged.
Seeing the smile on his face and watching him take part in activities he would otherwise have missed is something I can't put into words.
That's why I've decided to take on the challenge of running the London marathon.
Running the London marathon is my way of giving something back to a charity that has given our family so much. Cynon Valley PALS has made such a positive difference in Blake's life, and I want to ensure they can continue providing the same support and understanding to other children with additional learning needs and their families.

All funds raised will be passed to the charity irrespective of whether my target is reached, not reached or exceeded.
