Bridge’s story
We are delighted to say that on Wednesday 6th May we will be hosting a sponsored colour run to raise money to support our playtime provision initiative – OPAL. We will be holding two separate colour runs throughout the day: a child only event and a family event.
What is a colour run?
A colour run is a fun, non-competitive running event where participants start wearing white clothes and finish completely covered in bright, colourful powder. Unlike a regular race, the goal is not to be the fastest, but to have fun with friends and family. Bags of powered paint will be available to collect at our colour pit-stops which can then be used to put onto either your own or your family’s white attire.
Child Only Colour Run
All children will be given the opportunity to participate in our child only colour run during the school day following the age-appropriate distances.
Family Colour Run
We invite parents after school at 3:30pm to participate in the family colour run where you can run either by yourself or alongside your children. Tickets for this will be £5.00 with the proceeds going to the school’s provision for the children. This run will take place on both the school grounds and part of the recreation ground next to the school, giving you the chance to choose how many laps you would like to run.
Clothing
To ensure that all parents and children involved in getting as colourful as possible, we encourage all to wear white sports clothing. Please ensure that you do not mind these clothes getting decorated in powered paint which will be available at our colour pit-stops.
Children will be required to wear sunglasses or goggles – we will have a limited number of spares if required. We will not be encouraging children to throw any paint but rather put it onto their own or their family’s clothing.
Year group distances
Year R – 800m (1 lap)
Year 1 – 800m (1 lap)
Year 2 – 800 m (1 lap)
Year 3 – 1.5 km (shorter router - 2 laps)
Year 4 – 1.6 km (2 laps)
Year 5 – 1. 6 km (2 laps)
Year 6 – 2.4km (3 laps)
The children will be encouraged to raise sponsorship money that will be put towards our continued endeavour to improve our school’s playtime and lunchtime facilities through our OPAL project. We have been running this project for a year in order to encourage the children to have enriching outdoor experiences to boost health and mental wellbeing and are developing this through the OPAL scheme.
