Selby Town PCN’s story

We are reaching out with an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in our local community. We invite you to participate in a special fundraising event – Selby Stands Against Cancer Day, Tuesday 24th June 2025 - to support vital cancer services right here in the Selby area.
Cancer affects so many lives, and almost every one of us knows someone who has been touched by this disease. This fundraiser is a chance for our community to unite, show our strength, and provide much-needed resources to those facing this challenge.
Selby Town Primary Care Network (PCN) supporting the 4 GP surgeries in Selby, Active North Yorkshire, and Up for Yorkshire have teamed up to offer patients living with cancer a range of Cancer Support Services, with initial support from the Humber and North Yorkshire Cancer Alliance:
- Our weekly Cancer Support Café at the Town Hall provides peer, social and clinical support to people living with cancer and their support networks.
- Prehabilitation (before treatment) and rehabilitation (after treatment) programmes – supporting patients with a bespoke programme of exercise, nutrition, wellbeing and financial support, either before they embark on their cancer treatment or after they have completed their cancer treatment.
Below is a break-down of what donations can help with:
- £125 can provide a patient with 3 months of rehabilitation (before surgery)
- £125 can provide a patient with 3 months of rehabilitation (after surgery)
- £150 a month funds our cancer café, providing peer support and refreshments at the Town Hall
- £200 a month can provide up to 15 patients with a complimentary therapy or activity
Our Selby Stands Against Cancer Day on 24th June aims to bring the community together to raise funds for our Cancer Support Services to make sure we can continue to offer these services to our community. We would love to be able to expand our services to include specialist sessions including personalised wig consultations, day trips, personalised bra fitting, and so much more. With your help, this could be possible!
All funds raised will go directly to supporting people living with cancer in Selby through the Selby Cancer Support Services.
