Hilary’s story
Twenty years ago this December, I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer.
My diagnosis lead me into the World of the Dragon Boat. There are over 260 Breast Cancer Paddlers across the world and I am fortunate to have made friends in several countries as well as across the UK.
My team , Pink Champagne Breast Cancer Survivors Dragon Boat Team ,is based at the Hengistbury Head Outdoors Centre. The sport of Dragon Boat Racing is not an easy sport and our members cover both a wide range of ages and of treatment.
Mastering the art of the Dragon Boat can be a challenge and a huge achievement.
Our Charity gives our ladies the opportunity to improve fitness, enjoy our beautiful river & harbour and if they want to , to join many other “pink ladies” in the exhilaration of a racing event. We can only do this with your help.
On Saturday 10th August, I will again take part in a 26 mile, “marathon” paddle. I am well prepared for the blisters ( or dragons kisses , as we call them )
I know many of you will have supported me in the past and your donations, generosity and support are so appreciated.
We have many new ladies in our team and this is always a reminder that Breast Cancer is still very much with us. “Paddles up” as we say and Thankyou.
