Lloyd Meadhbh’s story
My best friend, Karl, is a cancer survivor. He developed an extremely aggressive cancer in his late 20s that ultimately required the removal of most of his GI tract. As a result, while I have witnessed first-hand what modern treatment can do for cancer sufferers, I have also seen what living with cancer and its aftermath asks of the survivor and those around them. I am completing this sponsored fire walk to ensure that people like Karl get the support they need, before, during, and after their treatment.
I am proud to raise money for Cabaret Vs Cancer because they support organizations that facilitate not only prevention and treatment, but provide material support, comfort, and community to sufferers and their loved ones. Whether it's providing massages for people in hospice care, developing cuddly toy ducks that help make cancer treatment less frightening for children, or supporting trans people in balancing treatment and gender-affirming care, the groups that Cabaret Vs Cancer supports make a life-changing difference to people navigating some of the most difficult things anyone can face.
Please chip in whatever you can to support Cabaret Vs Cancer and the incredible projects they make possible. The organization is currently just over £10,000 away from having raised £500,000 since it was founded ten years ago. It would be amazing to help them meet that target in October.
