Sean’s story
A group of family and friends with absolutely no rowing experience have decided to dive headfirst into the world of Dragon Boat Racing - all in the name of fun, teamwork, and a great cause. What started out as a laugh has quickly turned into an exciting challenge, as we prepare to swap dry land for paddles and water! What we may lack in technique we more than make up for in enthusiasm, determination, and a shared commitment to raise money for these fantastic charities.
Here are the local charities The Rotary Club are supporting this year:
We are Beams - providing comprehensive support services to children and young people with any form of physical, learning or sensory impairment, supporting the whole family through a range of services that directly benefit and assist those dealing with the
challenges of raising a disabled child.
Marie Curie- raising public awareness and influencing decision-makers across the UK on the issues affecting dying people and those close to them, so that more people can access high quality care and support when and where they need it most.
Alzheimer's and Dementia Support Services - through their many services they aim to help people affected by dementia to manage their symptoms, stay engaged with family, friends and the wider community and take back control of their lives.
Wetwheels South-East - “Barrier-Free Boating”. Wetwheels offers a unique opportunity for disabled and disadvantaged people of all ages – including those with multiple,
profound and complex impairments – to access the water.
