Julian’s story
UPDATE
We did it again in October (run no. 4)with my nephew Ben on the Club Triumph Round Britain Reliability Run.
Storm Amy through her worst at us but myself and ben and the plucky GT6 battled on.
A wiper motor failure was a significant inconvenience but a spare was sourced and fitted
A horn malfunction/short circuit with no human intervention probably woke up most of Bettyhill (apologies to resuidents ) There are 2 horns on most triumphs so quite loud and it took about a minute to get it switched off
A very tiring little jaunt of approximately 2000 miles in 48 hours in a 57 yr old car. We set off from Knebworth on Friday evening and drive north to breakfast at John O Groats on Saturday, then south through Scotland and western England into Wales and then Cornwall to Lands End for Sunday breakfast. A scenic drive to Bude then over Dartmoor and back to Knebworth for Sunday evening.
85 cars set off in Standard/Triumph cars taking part, there was a very high attrition rate with 12 failures this running
I took park in my 1968 Mk1 Triumph GT6
