Children's Vision-Uganda has been implementing an umber of programmed activities in Uganda since 2002 mainly through research, effective service delivery, provision of psycho-social support to victims of disaster, abuse and networking with local and international Civil Society Organizations, Governments and Development Partners.
Our target groups are orphans in the prime of single parent and total orphans, refugees, disabled, street children, abandoned children, elderly, vulnerable youth and marginalized community family members in Uganda.
Our Mission statement is creating an informed, educated, creative, innovative, Healthy and HIV/AIDS-free society in Uganda.
We believe in Christianity, Effective, timely and quality services delivery, Transparency and Accountability, Community participation, Gender main streaming and integrated Approach as our key core Values.
Children's Vision Uganda is regarded as the only hope for survival, voice for the voiceless, the only organization working in the hardest to reach areas in far undeserved and marginalized communities in Uganda.
Currently, thousands of total orphans are leaving on kampala street streets the capital city of Uganda where they are uncontrollably violent, practicing drug addiction, exposed to all forms of exploitation including extremely hard labor with very little or no pay at times, regarded as criminals by the people, and practicing transaction sex in order to support themselves more risking their lives to HIV/AIDS, unwanted pregnancies and sexually transmitted infections.
At night, street girls are exposed to transaction sex in exchange for security by night security officers and with a few majority conceiving birth of themselves.
Last week, a total of four street children were habitually murdered by traditional witch doctors as were offered as sacrifice by the rich men in order to protect them wealth although one Business tycoon was netted and imprisoned for sacrificing a young child in the same practice.
In down town at Kisenyi, one of the city suburbs, thousands of refugees from Somalia, Congo, Southern Sudan Eritrea, Ethiopia, Rwanda, are sleeping outside on verandas without sleeping materials for the last four months despite unsuccessful efforts by NGOs, Ugandan Government to assist them.
A number of orphans have drooped out of schools at the youngest age below 12 years in order to support their youngest sisters and brothers below 8 years of age and this has resulted into increased child prostitution in Kampala reaching at 27% a figure we have never witnessed in Uganda.
For disabled people, hundreds are leaving on streets with no basic necessities for survival such as food, clothing, pads, shoes, blankets and house hold items for survival.
At Makindye, Kisenyi, Ndeeba, Kabalagala , Nansana and other city suburbs, extremely poverty levels, unemployment, and crime rate is so high and this has been attributed to lack of funding by the Government to plan for its people especially the most vulnerable children and poor women who are every day murdered in cold blood at night and with others defiled, raped and exposed to inhuman and degrading treatment by unknown thugs.
In response to the above social catastrophe facing the above most vulnerable and marginalized people in Uganda,Children's Vision Uganda came up with the first innovative approach of sending total orphans and street children to schools through education sponsorship programs.
With this initiative, we have over 450 orphans, street children and other vulnerable children in the above category and we are urgently in need of education support with fees, scholastic materials, sleeping materials, clothes, medical care support, food, and other support knowing that through these support, the targeted beneficiaries will go to schools for the first time in their durable lives which shall improve on their social welfare and leaving standards in the near future
Furthermore, Children's Vision Uganda is appealing to good Samaritans at both local and international levels to generously and wholeheartedly contribute to our fundraising campaign and reach our goal of sending 450 total orphans and vulnerable under organisation care and support
God bless you as we jointly changing orphans and vulnerable children status in Uganda
Yours, David Mukasa
