Michael’s story
During 2025, I will run three marathons in three different countries in aid of Create Hope. The three marathons are Exeter on 11 May, Zagreb on 12 October and Florence on 30 November. Create Hope is a youth and children's mental health support charity based in Bracknell. I am running to raise a marathon's worth of therapy sessions i.e. 26.2 sessions. Each session costs £45, so in total, he aims to raise £1179. I know that Create Hope provides vital and much needed help as my wife, Julie, works for them.
The money raised will enable Create Hope to provide mental health therapy sessions in schools and other settings across Berkshire and Wiltshire. Create Hope offers emotional support to children, young people and families through creative therapeutic services. It works both 1-1 and with the whole family unit to help build self-esteem, develop resilience, build stronger relationships and work through past trauma. Stepping into the gap, it supports families struggling emotionally providing a safe therapeutic space. Its services include play therapy, systemic family sessions, family support, counselling, non-violence resistance therapy and emotional education programmes for parents.
It is a non profit making charity and all donations go towards funded sessions for families, helping those most in need to access the emotional support they require. Its services are client-focused, enabling the client to express themselves, and find their voice through creativity and play.
