Emma’s story
In 2018, I was lucky enough to be one of the staff members to accompany a group of students on a school trip to the Gambia to work on projects for the 'Favour Nursery and Clinic'. The nursery and clinic are situated in Bonsa village and work to provide education and healthcare for this rural community. The trip was one of the most humbling experiences I have ever had and every day I was there we spent time with the children and our students saw a life very different from their own creating memories they will never forget. When we left and the children sang goodbye to us, there was not a dry eye in the group. The time spent went so quickly but I knew I would be back at some point as a little bit of your heart definitely stays there with memories imprinted of the amazing work that BACE, their trustees and volunteers do to improve the lives of so many within this Gambian community.
Seven years later, I am going again, this time within a volunteers trip and am fortunate to be sharing the experience with Mark, we cannot wait ! So, we have set up this fundraising page to ask for your support in whatever way you can, whether this be buying something from the wishlist Amazon Gift List or sponsoring Mark and I. We have paid for our trip and so every single penny of the money we raise is going directly to fund the charities work within the school or the clinic. Mark and I are going to be fundraising over the next few months, holding car boot sales, selling cakes and are so very grateful for anything you are able to donate.
