East Dunbartonshire Befriending Service’s story
East Dunbartonshire Befriending Service (EDBS) is proud to share that our Befriending staff team, Dawn, Lesley, Fiona, Vida and Caroline, are taking on the Kiltwalk Big Stroll challenge on Saturday, 25th April, to help raise funds to end loneliness across East Dunbartonshire.
The team will set off from Clydebank along with thousands of other walkers who are all raising funds for their chosen charities, fighting off blisters and midges as they walk the 14.5 miles to reach the finish line in Balloch.
EDBS is a local Scottish charity that supports over 100 people who are suffering from loneliness/social isolation, whether it be due to bereavement, decline in health/mobility, little/no family, or relocation. Thanks to the help of over 70 volunteers, the service delivers a range of befriending methods, such as telephone, one-to-one, group befriending as well as social events, all of which are free of charge!
We are taking on this challenge to help raise funds to ensure that we can continue to provide our services for the year ahead.
