Stewart’s story
The Blue Sunday tea party was set up by Anna Redshaw in 2013.
It is an opportunity for people to take to social media to chat and share photos of their tea party set-up. Participants are encouraged to make a small donation to a ME/CFS charity of the price people would expect to pay for a pot of tea and a slice of cake.
ME Research UK is delighted to participate in this event organised by Anna Redshaw. This page has been set up to provide participants with the option to make a small donation directly to ME Research UK, supporting biomedical research into ME/CFS.
The idea for Blue Sunday grew out of Anna’s own experience of living with ME/CFS. After she was too unwell to celebrate her birthday in 2012, she organised a virtual “Tea Party for ME”, where friends and family shared photos of themselves enjoying tea and cake in solidarity.
This connection inspired her to develop Blue Sunday the following year – an inspiring and inclusive event that is designed so that people with ME/CFS can take part in a meaningful way.
Thank you, Anna.
If you are participating in Blue Sunday this year, you might choose to donate the cost of a tea and cake to ME Research UK – a small gesture that, collectively, can make a meaningful difference.
