JD’s story
As an ambassador of Cabaret Vs Cancer, it’s been my honour to raise money for the charity over the years.
When I was growing up my grandma Sylvia, who helped raise me, was the main person who took me to see theatre, musicals and watch musical films. Her inspiring and empowering me to perform is why I’m on stage now. When I was 16, I was devastated to lose her to bowel cancer, but her memory lives on for me every time I step on a stage. She was a fabulous, glamorous and tough woman who I try to channel the energy of in whatever I do. To this day I raise money for Cabaret Vs Cancer in her memory, and want to dedicate this fire walk to her.
