Julia’s story
Westleigh/Eden House Welfare and Fellowship event
On Saturday 14th September, we are planning a day of fellowship and welfare effort and would love your help, participation and support!
There are several aspects to the day and there are many ways that you could help to make it a success, some of which are explained below.
Eden House Care Home welfare committee do a marvellous job laying on events and activities for the residents of Eden House, which is in Coventry. This includes things like minibus trips out in the local area for afternoon tea etc, entertainment in the home, treats to celebrate special occasions etc. All of these things help to provide a variety and stimulation for the residents. As you may recall, we have organised sponsored bike rides from Leicester Westleigh to Eden House in previous years and it’s always been good fun and has also enabled us to raise funds to support this work, so that’s something we are planning to re-run again, on Saturday 14th September. So we’re meeting at Westleigh hall at 9:00am for the grand depart at 9:30am. A 50 mile bike ride might make your legs ache a bit the next day if you’re not a regular cyclist, but it’ll be worth it for a good cause! An e-bike could be the answer and anyone with one of these would be very welcome. Feel free to just do half the ride if you can figure out a way of getting your bike back from Coventry, or share the ride with a friend!!
***You must bring a cycle helmet to participate in the ride!***
Eden House residents always appreciate visitors to chat to, and so the management at the home have kindly agreed to provide a light lunch, for the cyclists, but if anyone would like to show support by meeting us there, you’d be most welcome. Please just let us know if you’d like to join us for lunch so we know how many to expect. The moral support would be appreciated by the riders and Eden House residents will appreciate any social time that were all able to share with them.
As an additional bonus aspect of the day for the benefit of all who are able to join us, we’re planning a shared meal after the ride, back at the Westleigh hall from about 6:30pm. I hope this will be something that everyone will be able to join us for and enjoy the social aspect of spending some time together.
But, even if you’re unable to join us for the ride, or the lunch at Eden House, or the evening meal at Westleigh, you needn’t feel left out! Instead, your donations to this most worthy cause would be very much appreciated, of course.
.
Of course, for the benefit of our very kind caterers (that’s both at Eden House for lunch and also at Westleigh for the evening meal), we need to give them a clue of how many people to expect. So please get in touch with either Neil Bolton or David Honey and let us know which elements of the day you’re able to come along to. We’re really banking on your support!
