Deedee’s story
The Challenge:
On Sunday March 2nd 2025, I will be joining a bunch of beautiful folk at Signature Brewery in Walthamstow and walking over a hot pit of burning embers in the pursuit of raising money to help those affected by Cancer. Cabaret vs Cancer are an organisation that I hold close to my heart and I am aiming to raise £200 for a very worthy cause.
Will I be wearing sequins? of course. Am I quite terrified? absolutely. Am I going to do it anyway? Hell yes I am!
A little bit about my motivation:
Back in the summer of 2023, I watched my friend and fellow Burlesque Performer Trixi Tassels take on a terminal cancer diagnosis and unfortunately succumb to the illness in a matter of months. This was a human so full of life, love and passion and being by her side while she was battling this total asshole of a disease was heartbreaking. She was always up for any kind of activity, even getting on roller skates for the first time in over 2 decades when I wanted someone to learn with. I was honoured to be her friend and want to continue fighting this awful disease in a way that I know she would be hooting and hollering at.

CABARET VS CANCER raises funds through spectacular cabaret and burlesque performances, supported by a dedicated team of ambassadors across the UK.
Our mission is clear: to support those affected by cancer.
Since 2016, we have partnered with child bereavement teams in local hospices, providing them with essential tools and resources to help children coping with the loss of a loved one.
Additionally, CABARET VS CANCER collaborates with various organizations to assist those dealing with a cancer diagnosis.
In addition to our vibrant cabaret shows, we host incredible charity auctions throughout the year, featuring autographs and collectibles in a range of themes. As an officially licensed partner of the David Bowie estate, we also offer exclusive David Bowie merchandise to help raise funds.
