Georgi’s story
In Guatemala, 96% of crimes reported against children go unpunished. Statistically speaking, every day 23 cases of sexual abuse against children are reported, and every day, 6 children under the age of 14 give birth to a child as, a result of rape.
Care and Relief for the Young are supporting Oasis children's home in San Lucas, outside Guatemala City. This residential home that is run by Kids Alive is specifically for girls who are victims of sexual violence. It is a holistic trauma-informed therapeutic ministry, helping children to heal, and then be reintegrated into a safe family.
Kids Alive also runs a justice centre which focuses on legal support for children, victims of sexual violence, and their families. Seeing justice served for what they have suffered, has a huge therapeutic impact on the well-being of the child, facilitates family reintegration and contributes to a more just society in Guatemala.
CRY’s heart is to see justice done and full restoration completed in the lives of these young girls.
