When we think of people suffering in poverty we often think about their lack of food, water, shelter and medicine. But can you imagine not having any underwear? Imagine having to sit in work or school without any pants, or being 12 years old getting your first period in the slums of Africa and not having any pants to wear! Unfortunately many people currently face this problem. Many young girls miss school and women miss work when on their period as they don't have any pants to wear. And its not just girls and women who need help, many men, particularly homeless men, do not have clean underwear.
That's where Smalls for All comes in. They are a Scottish charity working to restore dignity to people in the UK and in Africa. They collect new underwear and new or gently worn bras and distribute them to other charitable organizations who are able to transport the items they collect to those in need. For example, Smalls for All supplied 1000 pairs of underwear to the Kibera Farm Project, who are a non-denominational Christian charity, supporting disadvantaged children in the Nairobi slum of Kibera. The Kibera Farm Project said the response to the delivery of new pants was pure joy as underwear is usually a luxury for these children.
As of 20 April 2026, Smalls for All has distributed 2,418,098 items of underwear.
To support this amazing cause, pupils at Marr College are participating in a Hyrox style event taking place in school. Any sponsors are greatly appreciated.
Smalls for All use the donations they receive to help with the costs of running their charity, such as paying the rent and electricity of their sorting premises.
