Teresa’s story
Members of the LSEG Sailing Club will be racing in the iconic Round the Island Race to raise funds for the Rona Sailing Project (RSP).
The Rona Sailing Project (RSP), the working name of the Rona Trust, is a registered charity and volunteer-led Sail Training Organisation. Its purpose is to deliver offshore sail training voyages for young people aged 14 to 25, helping them develop essential life skills that extend far beyond sailing.
RSP’s mission is to provide opportunities for young people, and certain adults, to experience sailing in a way that builds confidence, responsibility, resourcefulness and teamwork – qualities that positively shape their futures.
As well as voyages for individuals, RSP runs programmes for school and youth groups, and works with young people and adults who may be facing additional challenges, including:
- learning disabilities
- mental health issues
- recovery from substance misuse
- long-term or chronic conditions
These voyages are not just about learning to sail – they are often life-changing experiences that build resilience, friendships and a sense of belonging.
The LSEG Sailing Club is proud to support RSP because its values closely align with our own: promoting teamwork, opening up access to sailing, giving back to the community, and creating meaningful volunteering opportunities.
