John’s story
Ride25 began in June 2012 with a group of friends deciding that it would be fun to see the world on a bike and raise money for charity on the way. The founders always wanted to cycle from the UK to Sydney, Australia but with jobs and families to consider getting on a bike and going was unrealistic!
The solution was to break up the journey into 25 legs and complete one leg each year over 25 years. Every year a new leg is completed over a (very) long weekend. The first 8 legs have involved the group cycling from Parmoor (West of London) to Candir (East of Ankara) in Turkey via Paris, Geneva, Milan, Rome, Bari, Thessaloniki and Istanbul.
2022 is Leg 9, which has been postponed 5 times since 2020. We are cycling a total of 458 miles over 5 days and climbing over 28,000 ft. The area is mountainous and will be pretty hot! The trip raises vital money for 1moreChild to help keep 200+ children in Uganda off the streets, housed and able to go to school.
£215,000 already raised offline through corporate sponsorship & individual donations.
