Zafar’s story
Assalamu Alaykum,
On Saturday the 22nd of July 2023 I will be undertaking a sponsored trek up Ben Nevis which is the highest mountain in the UK. I will be raising funds to build 5 houses for families who were made homeless in Layyah, Pakistan due to the floods in 2022.
In May this year I had the opportunity to visit the area and saw the houses that have already been completed by Ihsan Global Relief. This area of Pakistan is probably the most impoverished and also one of the hottest places on earth. People are currently living in tents and other temporary shelters with temperatures sometimes exceeding 45 degree celsius.
Each house costs £1,200 and will consist of a bedroom/living room, kitchen, bathroom. The houses will be made from bricks and cement giving them a life of at least 50 years and will accommodate a family of up to 10 persons.
