Paul, Kirstie and Craig’s story
Paul, Kirstie and Craig are all running a marathon on 27th April 2025. Paul and Craig are doing the Manchester Marathon. This will be Craig’s first marathon. Kirstie is doing the London Marathon.
“We want to raise funds for Kierans Legacy because its personal for us all. On Monday 24th of March 2025, David McCulloch, suffered a cardiac arrest and was saved by passers by and a defibrillator” David is brother in law to Paul and Uncle to Kirstie. “There are no words that convey the gratitude that all of Davids family feel for the intervention that saved his life”
Davids story
David has been a runner for many years, starting out as a beginner at Forres Jogscotland. He then joined Forres Harriers and has done many 10ks, half marathons and marathons. David then became a Forres Jogscotland leader and has been sharing his love and enthusiasm for running with others for many years.
Two weeks ago whilst leading a running group with Forres JogScotland, David suffered a cardiac arrest. It was down to the amazing reaction of passers by that David’s heart was started again and his life was saved. David received CPR and a shock from a defibrillator. This defibrillator is located at Forres Community Centre only metres away from where David collapsed. This defibrillator and many more around Moray are donated and managed by Keirans legacy.
David is the 24th person to be saved by defibrillators donated by them and we would like to support them in not only providing more defibrillators but to also help them provide first aid training in schools and the community. David is currently recovering in Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and making good progress
Any donations would be greatly appreciated.
For Paul and Craig, both Moray Active Schools Coordinators, the benefits of first aid training is essential in a sports capacity. “Through our personal work with Active Schools, we strive to offer young people the opportunity to free coach education. Keiran’s Legacy offers free education on First Aid in schools not to only include CPR but now includes defibrillator training to increase the victim’s chance of survival “ Keiran’s Legacy also provides extensive defibrillator access throughout Moray and Scotland and CPR and First Aid training to the Moray community.
