Susan’s story
OK , I know this isn't the longest walk but its a great charity who support many people who get so much pleasure from the service they provide! I am lucky enough to volunteer on the Willow Trust boats and see first hand the pleasure this organisation can giveopportunity for people of all agThe aim of The Willow Trust is to provide a unique opprotunity for people of all ages with a disability or serious illness to enjoy a theraputic day out on the water. Each year up to 7000 children and adults with disabilities and serious illnesses enjoy a day out on board our fully wheelchair accessible broad beam boats on the Gloucester- Sharpness canal.
Both boasts, Spirit of Freedom 11 and Leonard Matcham were pupose built for The Willow Trust and give children and adults with disabilities a day of freedom they never thought possible.
Through my job at The Coventry Building Society I have been able to volunteer for the trust and I enjoy it so much I also use my own time to help out. The running costs are high however and I am hoping to be able to make a contribution to keeping this great work going!
