Crown Office’s story
Charlie Waller Trust is one of Crown Office Chambers selected Charities. The Trust was founded in 1997, by the family of Charlie Waller, who died by suicide the same year whilst suffering from depression.
Charlie Waller Trust provides mental health training and resources with a focus on children and young people. Equipping parents, carers, teachers and communities with the best and latest evidence-based strategies, giving them the knowledge and confidence to help young people thrive.
In 2021, NHS Digital reported a rise in the number of children and young people with a probable mental health disorder, from 1 in 9 to 1 in 6. Most of us will have someone close in our life that is, or has, struggled with mental health.
The money raised through donations goes towards the training and facilities provided by the trust and making these accessible to all.
