Mary’s story
For the last few years I've been involved with Pink Champagne Breast Cancer Survivors Dragon Boat Team. We are a team with the common bond of having gone through Breast Cancer Treatment.
The sport of Dragon Boat Racing provides both physical and mental support to our ladies. Following treatment and into recovery , it is a hugely positive experience and achievement. No one understands cancer like someone who has been there, combine that with the fun of a team environment and the challenge of sport and competition, it's a winning combination and literally gives our members a new lease of life after experiencing the worst time in their life.
As for many charities, fundraising has been difficult for the last couple of years, and we've not been able to hold our annual Dragon Boat Festival which is our main source of income. On 10th August I will be taking part in a fundraising 26.2 mile dragon boat “paddle” in Christchurch Harbour and up the River Stour and will be drumming, helming and paddling but not all at the same time! The funds raised will enable us to continue welcoming new members and support the team.
In these difficult times, please give what you can. Your donations, generosity and support are, as always, greatly appreciated
Fundraising Targets
All funds raised will be passed to the charity irrespective of whether my target is reached, not reached or exceeded.
