Chantell’s story
Huddersfield African Caribbean Cultural Trust (HACCT) is a registered charity that currently aims to advance, promote, encourage and develop an appreciation of, and participation in African-Caribbean culture. This includes hosting a range of events promoting Caribbean arts and culture including music, dance, crafts, costume design and making culminating in Huddersfield Carnival.
There are currently 9 trustees who are working behind the scenes to support the charity. The team have been busy meeting together to plan activities, and events, meeting with agencies and completing funding application forms. Much of the team's focus is on trying to raise the funds to hold Huddersfield carnival but also to keep all other elements of the charity running. This walk is to raise the profile of the charity behind Huddersfield carnival to put a face to the trustees that are working behind the scenes striving to keep Caribbean heritage and culture alive in Huddersfield.
As one of the Trustees of the Organisation I'm pulling out my walking shoes, layering up and braving the elements to walk 8 miles through the beautiful sites of Huddersfield, via Castle Hill. One of our local carnival masqueraders will be showcasing our Castle Hill Showpiece costume up at the landmark site to encourage us on our way.
Please support our charity if you can.
Thanks
