1st Hanwell Scout Group’s story

1st Hanwell Scouts have had to vacate their home of 30 years after RAAC concrete was found in the Bernard Sunley Scout Hall roof. We now face the challenge of raising around £100,000 to repair it. The Bernard Sunley Scout Hall has also been the home of the much-loved local day nursery, Sticky Fingers, for over 30 years.
Our mission is to work collaboratively with friends, contacts and our local networks to raise the funds required. Whilst we hope the majority of the funding will be brought in through grant applications, we also want to run a series of fun events to bring together the local community, raise awareness and ask for support!
This Scout Hall is a huge part of the community in this area of Hanwell, being the home of 1st Hanwell Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs and Scout groups, as well as Sticky Fingers nursery.
Scouting is an international volunteer-led movement that prepares young people for life by helping them develop skills and confidence, and we are fortunate to have such a thriving group in our local area.
We are kicking off our series of fundraising events soon. Look out for our toys and games stall at Hanwell Carnival on Saturday 15th June.
