Tough Mudder is a fantastic challenge and will see teams take on a 10km course, in addition to 20 obstacle courses.
It will be a fantastic opportunity to test yourself, create memories, and support the charity.
We are raising money specifically for children. In Guatemala, 96% of crimes reported against children go unpunished. Statistically speaking, every day 23 cases of sexual abuse against children are reported, and every day, 6 children under the age of 14 give birth to a child as, a result of rape.
Care and Relief for the Young, in partnership with the Christian NGO Latin Link UK, are supporting Oasis children's home in San Lucas, outside Guatemala City. This residential home that is run by Kids Alive is specifically for girls who are victims of sexual violence. It is a holistic ministry, focused on discipleship and neuroscience that uses Christian principles and trauma-informed therapies to help children heal, and then be reintegrated into a safe family.
Kids Alive also runs a justice centre which focuses on legal support for children, victims of sexual violence, and their families. Seeing justice served for what they have suffered, has a huge therapeutic impact on the well-being of the child, facilitates family reintegration and contributes to a more just society in Guatemala.
CRY’s heart is to see justice done and full restoration completed in the lives of these young girls.
We will be taking part in this challenge in aid of the above, and the team would greatly appreciate all support via the fundraising pages linked to this event.
