Organised by the Freemasons of Edinburgh to raise much-needed funds for our nominated charity Motor Neurone Disease Scotland, you don’t need to be a mason to participate!
You don’t need to be a super-fit walker either, as there are three set-off times for varying abilities. Being just under 10 miles, it’s a great starter if you’ve never taken part in a charity walk before, and a well-organised one if you have. Anyone between 12 and 17yrs must bring a participating adult. It’s run in conjunction with our Two Bridges Six Provinces charity cycle run, so don’t think you’re in the wrong place if you see a few cyclists in MND tops milling around.
So we don’t have to put up direction markers for this event, you’re able to download the route to a GPS device in .GPX or .TCX formats. You can also download the RideWithGPS app and route to your smartphone, and will have every twist and turn covered.
We'll be taking a clockwise route out of South Queensferry along the coast on sections of the John Muir Way and NCN76 to Snab Point, then travel south to Cramond Brig. From there, the last third starts back on the segregated path adjoining the A90 before veering off to the quieter B924. We then have a wee jaunt along to Dalmeny Village, and from there we go a little downhill to the old railway bed which brings us out at the tunnel at the top corner of the car park - job done!
Very picturesque, and depending on your phone, you’ll be able to listen to notes on various attractions and curiosities along the route while you’re ambling along.
Unlike some “charity” events, there is no entry fee – all we ask is that you raise as much as you can for MND Scotland. We don’t get involved in the money side of things, your contributions go direct to the charity via Wonderful.org, which enables them to add 25% tax to your total!
First, create your fundraising page on the left hand side here https://wonderful.org/register
