Welcome to North Ferriby Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA). We are a self-funded, volunteer-led charity that serves as a therapy centre. Our current team includes 25 volunteers aged between 17 and 79.
The centre provides individuals of all ages and disabilities with opportunities to interact with horses and ponies, and learn to ride. This includes SEND children, families living with disabilities, and extends to children that have been excluded from school. The therapy offered through this interaction has proven beneficial, improving participants' confidence, skillset, emotional wellbeing, balance, flexibility, and coordination.
Home to approximately 15 horses and ponies, we also house alpacas, chickens and sheep, each with a specific role to play.
Our work in the community extends beyond riding lessons, and includes activities like ‘Coffee with a Donkey’ for people with living with dementia, grooming sessions for SEND children, holidays clubs for children who receive free school meals, and work experience for foundation students at Bishop Burton and East Riding College.
