Kensal Rise Library is run entirely by and for the community - since its closure by the Council, amid mass protest. It depends on volunteers and donations to keep going. It is free and welcoming to all in our diverse, densely populated community, providing much-needed services and exciting events in a safe, public space.
The community fought a decade-long battle to regain part of the building from the Council, freeholders and developers, and raised thousands of pounds to refurbish what had become a derelict shell. Please help us continue delivering our essential services by donating generously. We receive no regular council funding and are a completely independent community library. Thank you for your support.
Urgent Appeal! The library has to find £12,000 to pay for a new roof to stop it flooding the building underneath when it rains. Please help.
Historic Kensal Rise is the only library in the world to have been opened by the great American writer, Mark Twain (apart from his own library).
