The Baronets Trust is a charity, formed by Baronets, to enable both the baronetage and the wider public to make a meaningful difference to deserving causes in the UK, helping to create a better Britain. Set up over 30 years ago, the Trust has always emphasised supporting and helping young people. In the last 10 years, the Trust’s focus has sharpened as our Trustees have sought to make larger grants, making a more substantial impact.
Over the last 10 years, we have supported:
- SSAFA (Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association) - providing remedial holidays for the children of deserving servicemen and women. SSAFA is a huge charity but this targeted grant, coming at the tail end of the Iraq and Afghanistan campaigns, struck a chord with all who responded generously to our appeal.
- The Shannon Trust - enabling prisoners to teach other prisoners to read and write. Given the correlation between illiteracy and the prison population, the benefits have been obvious.
Our current grant recipient is the Cirdan Trust, which specialises in enabling groups of young people, particularly those who are disadvantaged in some way, to experience the challenge and adventure of life at sea on large sailing vessels.
