Our small charity helps families with children going through gruelling treatments for Cancer, leukaemia and other life threatening illnesses. We help the children to meet their Celebrity and Sporting idols, go to concerts, theatres, football games and outings such as theme parks, Blair Drummond Safari park, Zoos, Restaurants or anything they desire to make their lives a little more bearable during this hard time. We have granted over 1000 Dream requests of games consoles, mobile phones, ipads, shopping trips and toys in the 7 years we have been registered.
We have a Christmas party every year for over 200 children with cancer and their siblings which is attended by local celebrities and sports stars. We work tirelessly throughout the year to ensure every child has an amazing day and gets a gifts from Santa.
The difference these events make to the Children is immeasurable as they are sometimes only allowed out of the hospital for that couple of hours and can bring them on leaps and bounds at such a traumatic time in their and their family’s lives. We are continually trying to make the children that come to us with a wish or dream happen!
In the 7 years since we became a registered charity we have purchased 2 Respite holiday homes at Craig Tara Holiday Park in Ayr where the families can go for a break away from the hospital. Already over 500 families have had time away in DreamMaker 1 and 2.
Some of the stars that have been kind enough to give us their time include Ed Sheeran, The Script, Kylie Minogue, as well as The Scotland Football team, Celtic and Rangers, the stars of the X Factor and Simon Cowell. We made it possible for terminally ill Katie Papworth to meet and propose to Ed Sheeran in Glasgow.
