Andy’s story
Andy and Alison are cycling Land’s End to John O’Groats. Our journey begins on 30th May and ends on 19th June. We will be cycling 1,100miles. (17th June postscript Apologies we have mislead you as it turns out that we are actually cycling only 1030 miles!). We are raising money for Cyclox’s campaign Vision Zero Oxford, which Cyclox launched in April after the deaths of three young women on their bikes in a 6 month period, all at junctions, all in collision with large vehicles.
Vision Zero is an approach to road safety based on one central idea: that every death or serious injury on the road is preventable. The funds will allow detailed assessments of each of the critical junctions in Oxford creating designs to make them safer for people both cycling and walking. These will be undertaken with local Cyclox members.
Safety is the issue that women in particular say puts them off cycling and this campaign will help overcome this and get more people cycling more safely and more often.
Until we reach a total of £3000, Alison and Andy will match the amount you donate so with Gift Aid added every £1 you donate will be worth £2.50.
Some people are finding they aren’t able to donate via Wonderful and some banks aren’t yet linked to the platform. Please get in contact if you are having a problem and we will let you know other ways you can donate.
