Sarah’s story
The Charlie Froud Foundation’ has been set up in memory of Charlie, a 14 year-old boy who died in October 2008 when the light aircraft he was travelling in, crashed in the Wicklow Mountains in Ireland. He was on his way to stay in the holiday home of his good friend Ayman and his parents, all of whom were with Charlie on the plane and died with him.
Our missions are:
• To keep Charlie’s memory alive in a positive way
• To bring people together
• To raise money for good causes
Charlies Ultra Challenge is our major fundraiser for 2024. We will complete a 100 mile cycle, 10 mile run and a 1 mile swim at the Cotswold Water Park on 20th / 21st September. Training is underway. Doug & I are starting to build the miles up, September is starting to feel very close!
The biggest part of this challenge for me personally will be the swim, not sure doggy paddle and a rubber ring is going to cut it!!!
This will be Doug’s first Charlie Froud event. And on the day, despite the tired legs, I know that he will love the vibe surrounding the event. We always have a lot of fun, support each other and the after party is immense!!! Doug, it’s going to be emotional!!!
We’re excited to be part of it, and any support you are able to offer is appreciated more than you could know.
