RESCUES and BUSINESS SET UPS ACROSS JULY AND AUGUST

32 groups of 15 adults in each group and an across the two months average of two children

for each adult.

So

480 adults

2 groups of 50 women (number of children TBC) NOT FGM, but the majority are early marriage escapees and their mothers

Around 30% of the “adults” in these groups are young teenage girls fleeing FGM looked after by their mothers. The rest are victims of severe abuse, domestic or tribally based. We also provide basic medical assistance for girls who have been cut (sometimes we just do not get to them in time) and those who are injured in other ways.

As well as the costs of the business set up Mama Biashara pays the cost of moving them to a place of safety, a place of their choice, and a place where they can grow their business.

Generally, the fares are around 5 pounds per person.
