Roger’s story
Having always said I would never want to run further than 10km races I witnessed this year my mum and friends complete the virtual London marathon by walking the 26.2 miles over a local route of their choice raising hundreds of pounds for Our Harrys Smile. I thought if she can manage it so can I!
Having failed to gain a place in the ballot I was offered a charity place through Colin Mansell of Children First International. CFI has been supporting Our Harry's Smile for a few years now and Harry's progress is amazing for a young boy who needs love and care 24/7, and ongoing physiotherapy. However, Harry has now outgrown his current buggy and is in need of an upgrade to the larger size. The charity is looking to fundraise between £2,500-£3,000 for a Delichon Delta All-Terrain Buggy.
“This rugged, lightweight, three-wheel Special Needs All-Terrain buggy allows Harry to explore new parts of the world – to go anywhere outdoors, whatever the weather, and attend events knowing that he will be comfortable, sheltered and involved. Without it, his life would be far more limited and he would be unable to easily visit zoos, theme parks or beaches, join countryside walks, go out in the snow, or even visit the shops. Upgrading Harry’s buggy to the larger frame includes purchasing a new sun canopy and rain cover.
Therefore, any pennies you can spare to help me help Harry get his new buggy through my challenge of taking on the London Marathon would be gratefully received.
