William’s story
I’ve chosen to take on the Bob Graham Round to raise money for Flynne’s Barn because both are rooted in the same things I care deeply about: resilience, community, and the power of the outdoors to heal.
Flynne’s Barn provides a safe, nurturing space for children and families who are going through unimaginably difficult times. What they offer isn’t abstract or distant — it’s practical, compassionate, and life-changing, right here in the Lake District. Supporting them feels personal.
The Bob Graham Round is a brutally demanding challenge: 66 miles, 42 Lakeland fells, and 27,000 feet of ascent, all within 24 hours. It’s not just a physical test, but a mental one too — about keeping going when everything tells you to stop. That struggle mirrors, in a very small way, the perseverance shown by the families Flynne’s Barn supports every day.
By pushing myself to my absolute limits on the fells, I hope to shine a light on their work and raise funds that genuinely make a difference. If my suffering for a day can help provide comfort, stability, and hope for others, then every step is worth it.
