Leanne’s story
In April I will walk 10,000 steps a day to raise money for Worcestershire Cancer Aid.
Worcester Cancer Aid is a local charity who solely run on fundraising by there fantastic committee of just seven people. It became close to my heart when my dad was diagnosed with lung cancer at age 49 and sadly passed away shortly after diagnosis in August 2022 my dad had no other health conditions and it hit us like a ton of bricks. Worctershire cancer aid offer anyone with a WR postcode support financially and emotionally as long as they are referred to them by a health proffesional. They do so much to help others one of the ways they help is by providing a small amount of money to people with cancer to try and ease the financial pressures that come with follow diagnosis. My dad Andrew found there personal letters heartwarming and it had really touched him that local people from the little shop in Upton took there time to reach out and support him. He had asked me before his passing to support them to support others therefore, after our success family funday i am testing other ways to support the fantastic work this charity does, and will continue to do so.
