Julie’s story

I am a trustee of Friends of Young Carers Swindon (FOYCS). The charity is very small and all the money we raise goes to support young carers aged 5 to 18 to take a break from their caring role through activities run by Swindon Carers Centre. There are currently over 900 children registered with Swindon Carers Centre.
A Young Carer is a child or young person under the age of 18 from any ethnic or social background whose life is affected by caring for a member of their family. The person they care for may have a physical or mental illness, a long-term health condition, a terminal illness, or problems with alcohol or drug abuse
I am taking on this challenge as I like being out in the fresh air and want to keep fit and healthy. 53 kilometres or just under 33 miles if you prefer will take a lot of willpower to keep putting one foot in front of the other but I believe young carers deserve the opportunity to have fun so if I can raise a little bit of money whilst doing something I enjoy the all the better
