What is Fitrana?
Zakat-ul-Fitr, (also known as Fitrana or Fitrah), is a form of charity given to the poor at the end of Ramadan.
Fitrana is due on every member of a household, including any children or elderly people. It is obligatory to pay before Eid salah.
How much is Fitrana this year?
The amount of Zakat ul-Fitr for this year with Muslim Futures is £5.00 per person. It has been calculated at this price because it is the average price of a meal. The Zakat al-Fitr donations are used to provide food for the vulnerable.

When do we need to pay Fitrana?
For Fitrana 2022 we need to pay Fitrah by the end of the Ramadan, before the commencement of the Eid prayers at the latest.
What is the difference between Zakat and Zakat–ul-Fitr?
The first difference between Zakat and Zakat ul Fitr, or Fitrana, is eligibility. All Muslims must pay Zakat-ul- Fitr regardless of their age or financial status unless they honestly do not have the means to do so.
The second difference lies in the amount due. The amount attributed to Zakat al Fitr, or Fitrana, is very small - it rarely exceeds £5.
It is the same amount for all, regardless of financial situation. Zakat, however, can amount to a larger amount because it’s 2.5% of all net savings, and varies from person to person.
The third and final difference lies in their due dates. Zakat can be paid at any time, with the only condition being that the earnings reflect one lunar years’ worth of net savings.
Zakat ul Fitr, however, goes hand in hand with Ramadan. It must be paid during Ramadan, before the Eid prayers at the very latest. This is a very specific time frame that all Muslims must abide to.
Where will my Fitrana go?
Your Fitrana will go directly to those who need it most, through our Feed500THOUSAND campaign appeal. We will feed the poor, before Eid, across communities impoverished by hunger and thirst. These unfortunate souls are victims through no fault of their own, either of war, drought, famine & displacement, natural disasters or poverty.
Your Fitrana can provide a nutritious meal to someone who would otherwise go without. Zakat al-Fitr is a duty upon every Muslim, as long as you can afford to pay it.
Your Zakat al-Fitr, is part of our 125% Zakat Policy, meaning that every penny of your donation will go directly to those in need.
Make sure that you pay your Fitrana of £5.00 before Eid salah, as is our obligation.
