Ryn’s journey so far..
February 2021 we were all in lockdown, on a dark, cold winters night, tootling on the internet I realised that the Stafford Half Marathon and Potters Alf were a week apart. The little seed was planted in my head that if I can do both putting them together cannot be that much harder. It’s one of those mad crazy childhood bucket list ideas.
On the 26th September 2021 I had completed both half marathons.
Since October 2021 I have been upping my game, in the rain, snow, wind and ice. It has dawned on me that 26.2 miles is really quite a long way!!!
During these cold winters evenings I have met some amazing people that have spurred me on and I am privileged to call my friends, thank you Stoke Fit and Moorlands Athletic and a big thank you also to Mike at Sporting Communities for all the nutritional advice in the very early stages of putting this plan in to action.
We are so amazingly lucky in this country to have our freedom, a right to a voice, a vote, health care, education and so much more. Even the simplest of things, as a female there are no rules stopping me from been able to run with like-minded souls, participating in competitions and been seen as an equal alongside all others entered in to the race.
I am humbled every day when I do that thing they call work. The people I meet and have opportunity to mix with. Those that have experienced and witnessed horrendous things, had to leave their home, their families and loved ones behind as it is no longer safe to live in their home land. No one makes that decision lightly!
Although 26.2 miles is a very scary distance it is nothing in comparison to the huge life changes other have been forced to make.
It will be really appreciated if you can sponsor my first attempt to complete a marathon. 100% of the money raised will go towards directly supporting children, families and individuals accessing the Asha service.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
